EUDR Compliance Strategy for a Food Industry

In light of the requirements set by Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 on deforestation-free supply chains (EUDR), GREEN2SUSTAIN supported VESTA FOODS S.A. in shaping a comprehensive compliance strategy. As a major company in the meat processing and trading sector, VESTA FOODS is directly affected by the new regulatory framework due to its engagement with commodities potentially linked to deforestation.

The EUDR establishes strict due diligence obligations for operators and traders placing or exporting products such as beef, soy, wood, palm oil, cocoa, coffee, and rubber within the EU market. Following a request from a key client, the company sought GREEN2SUSTAIN’s expertise to ensure full alignment of its operations and supply chain with the regulation.

Our team began by mapping the affected products using harmonized classification codes and comparing them with the provisions of the regulation. We then supported the collection and verification of supplier data, including origin and land use information. Using this input, we conducted detailed risk assessments across the supply chain and proposed appropriate mitigation actions. This process culminated in the preparation of an annual Due Diligence Statement, to be submitted through the EU’s dedicated digital platform, confirming that products either pose zero or negligible deforestation risk.

In today’s sustainability-driven market, EUDR compliance is more than a formal obligation—it signifies a company’s commitment to environmental responsibility, ethical sourcing, and global climate action. By addressing deforestation risks at the source, businesses not only meet EU standards but also demonstrate leadership in sustainable supply chain management.

GREEN2SUSTAIN continues to provide expert environmental consulting for companies navigating the complexities of EUDR implementation. With a strong background in regulatory compliance, due diligence, and sustainable development practices, we help clients transition to transparent, responsible, and future-proof operations.
